Broadcast International Update

Broadcast International (BCST) announced this week that CodecSys qualifies for Microsoft Mediaroom Platform Interoperability.  I believe this is a material event for the company as the Microsoft seal of approval will likely open the sales door.  Although it has been a long and painful road to bear, the company looks to finally be gaining some traction.  The space in which CodecSys operates is a busy one.  Just recently Google and Cisco have made acquisitions in the space and quite honestly there aren’t too many left to buy.  I feel if BCST can gain some contract wins for its platform it will likely be a takeover target.

“Bandwidth is a huge concern for content providers, specifically the lack of available bandwidth, and we realized early on that by becoming Microsoft Mediaroom Certified we could expand CodecSys and its ability to create more available bandwidth,” said Tiede. “By integrating with Microsoft Mediaroom, we’ll be able to offer content providers HD quality broadcasts at three megabits per second which we anticipate will save them as much as 33 percent in bandwidth costs.”

In the video below Rod Tiede reviews the details of the recent announcement that CodecSys, the software-based video asset optimization platform, has received Microsoft’s coveted Mediaroom Certification.
